French band Thylacine reveals the brilliant new video for “Mountains”, the first single taken from their 2014 Exil EP. Directed by Cyprien Clément-Delmas, the video was filmed in Bulgaria, showcasing some brilliant landscapes and offering a glimpse of the native architecture and culture. The heart of the piece is the youth put on display; a cast of determined and driven youngsters living out moments of their life before camera, evoking a lust for life and escapism. Cinematographer Daniel Fernández Abelló manages to entangle a documentary feel with something more cinematic, wide shots capture brilliant vistas and the overall grade is rich but it never feels too imposed. The track itself crescendo’s into a euphoric chorus and the grounded yet aspiring video only accentuates this feeling, we can’t help but feel uplifted.
Led by William Rezé, the the group have a knack for infectious, synthy electronic music. If that sounds like your fancy, check out their most recent EPs Blend and Exil.
