Review: Pharrell Williams “Freedom”

The video for Pharrell’s “Freedom” chronicles a wealth of human diversity, our plights, our accomplishments and the beauty of the nature surrounding us.

Pharrell isn’t a stranger to world spanning calls to humanism and liberation. Freedom follows in the vein of his last gargantuan hit “Happy”, but its ups the scales to new heights. The scope is larger, more global. The cinematography and set pieces more elaborate and meaningful; Gorgeous shots of stallions sweeping a Sun drenched wilderness, a troupe of women disbanding their wigs and diamond miners liberating themselves from slave labour. The clip is unusually short at only 2 minutes 45 seconds but its certainly not lacking in punch or substance.
