A chilling monologue serves as a fitting introduction to the dark and stylish “Dead body”. A disenfranchised jaunt through the trial and tribulations, told through the mind of Simbi Ajikawo, AKA little Simz. This weeks One-to-Watch hails from North London and she’s has already caught the eye of another OTE favourite in the form of Kendrick Lamar. Her lyricism adheres to a mind frame that seems beyond her years. Similar to her co-signer she’s a fierce story teller, painting vivid tales through her blistering bars and melodic staccato delivery.
The visuals for Dead body mirror the sinister tonality of the track and its dark grimey instrumental, with inverted pallets and a gaunt african mask further adding the sense of foreboding. Refusing to partner with a record label, Little Simz plans to independently release her debut album “A Curious Tale fo Trials+Persons” this coming Friday 18th September. We can’t wait to hear it.
